Multilevel marketing, or MLM, is also known as network marketing and can be a lucrative business if you put in the time required to build a strong down-line. Network marketing has been around for decades and billions of dollars have been made by utilizing these programs. Like any business, with network marketing you actual have to do some work. But for a person who is willing to apply the program a very good business can be built.
There are two aspects to building a successful network marketing business which you can target individually or together. The basic ideas are you either develop a wide base of customers who buy the product or service you are selling or you bring a lot of other people into the business under you and then when they sell products you get a portion of the proceeds.
Of these two methods the one that is easiest to scale into a large organization is the second. This makes sense because if you are only going to sell your product to individuals you will have to contact a lot of people and try to get them to buy the product. This is possible but you are definitely limited to how many individuals you can contact in a day or week. There have been people who have built businesses this way but they did not see great success like you want.
The better method is to bring people into the business under you. These people are known as your down-line. The beauty of this method is these people sell products which you make a commission on and they bring more associates into
the business whom you also make a commission from. This is how massive MLM or network marketing businesses are built. The key is to find the right type of people to approach as potential down-line members.
This type of business, like all businesses, requires some work so it does you no good to target people looking to “get rich quick.†The time spent on these individuals will be wasted because they are looking to win the lottery and they get bored with anything that takes any time to accomplish. Usually within a week they have given up on the business and are off to the next pie in the sky venture. Some MLM businesses will offer a signing bonus to you in which case it is worth it to bring these people in to the business just don’t expect any long term results from them.
The people you want to concentrate on those who are looking for a long term solution to their money problems and who understand that building a business is the only answer. The key to finding this type of person is to accentuate the potentials. Help them to actually see what they can achieve by working the plan. You can spot these individuals because they ask questions about how the business works. They are interested in the money but they also want to know how it is achievable. The people wanting to win the lottery will not be interested in the fundamentals of how to get the results. They just want to know the size of the prize.
There have been many, many millionaires made with network marketing. The most successful understand that building a strong down-line filled with the right candidates is imperative.
